One of the world’s leading metal resource companies located in the North part of the bund in Shanghai. We transformed this building into the incredible headquarter it is today. The story and inspiration behind our approach, is the galaxy – and it is represented through out the entire building. The lobby floor is broken marble, assembled in a mathematical grid. The white plates represent stars. For the elevator lobby, we wanted a lighting panel that represented the galaxy but didn’t find one that fit our expectations so we contacted NASA if they could provide us with an image, and they did.
We added a metallic looking enormous roof to emphasise the grand entrance. We created an oversized entrance with sliding doors where you are welcomed by an extremely high lobby – where we added installations to scatter the light while simultaneously and subtly rotating movement caused by air flow, giving people the impression of a summer night fresh breeze and overall wellbeing.
The whole upper floor is devoted to the most incredible 360 degree view of Shanghai. Besides all of the office sections there is a separate floor dedicated to recreational space as well as a library. The building also provides a terrace section, used as a multifunctional space for events and we created a glass roof with suspended lights.
